British police contact Australian police over hoax

British police say they have contacted Australian authorities about a possible investigation into an Australian radio station’s hoax call to a UK hospital.

A nurse at the hospital which treated Prince William’s pregnant wife Catherine was found dead on Friday, days after being duped by a hoax call from an Australian radio station, the hospital said.

The private King Edward VII hospital named the nurse as Jacintha Saldanha, who had worked there for four years, and said it had learned of her “tragic death” with “very deep sadness.”

Closer editor receives death threats over topless photographs of Catherine

French magazine Closer said yesterday its editor had received death threats for publishing pictures of Prince William's wife Catherine sunbathing topless.

"We have received more than 300 insulting e-mails of which several contain death threats," Closer said, adding that it had notified the police.

French authorities yesterday banned Closer magazine from any further publication or resale of topless pictures of Prince William's wife Catherine and launched a criminal investigation into how they were obtained.

An Italian gossip magazine owned by former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi published a 26-page spread of topless photos of Prince William's wife Catherine yesterday, despite legal action in France against the magazine that published them first.
