Vigil crowds signify hope for change of heart

The June 4 crackdown in Tiananmen Square still evokes strong feelings in Hong Kong. So it is not surprising that the 20th anniversary of the tragedy last year attracted a huge turnout to the annual vigil in Victoria Park. But given that the passing years have wearied many who have lit candles for the victims, few were bold enough to predict anything like it would be seen again.
