Quiet debuts for duo

World Wide Touch Technology (Holdings) and Yusei Holdings made modest debuts on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

World Wide Touch closed at 96 Hong Kong cents after debuting at 95 Hong Kong cents and hitting a high of HK$1.04. It saw 522 million shares change hands, with the trading value put at HK$517.52 million.

Tingyi earnings expand

Instant-noodle producer Tingyi (Cayman Islands) has reported a 47.94 per cent increase in profit to an unaudited US$27.5 million for the three months to September 30. That brings to US$47.76 million the profit in the first nine months, a gain of 33.6 per cent. Earnings per share were 0.49 cent in the three months. Turnover rose 40.43 per cent to US$285.06 million in the latest quarter.

New units at Cayman Rise

Hong Kong Housing Society will release a further 112 flats at Cayman Rise in Kennedy Town, raising the number of units on sale to 312. The developer said the additional units were priced at an average of HK$3,695 per square foot, compared with HK$3,392 per square foot for the first batch of units. The official sale will take place on Saturday. Buyer registration ends today.

Loan move set to lift transparency

The stock exchange has proposed that all listed companies must announce any loan or guarantee made that amounts to more than 15 per cent of a company's assets.

The move is aimed at increasing the transparency of listed companies' indebtedness and will help reveal if they have lent funds to substantial shareholders or subsidiaries without informing minority shareholders.
