Developers brought back down to earth

Central Plaza, the 78-storey skyscraper run by Sun Hung Kai Properties in Wan Chai North, has many distinctions to its credit. Among these is the record for Hong Kong's tallest building, a title which it held until 2003 when Two IFC - in which its developer SHKP also has a stake - was completed.

High-rise runners aim to raise HK$1m

About 200 runners will race up more than 70 stories of Wan Chai's Central Plaza today in a bid to raise HK$1 million for the Hong Chi Association, an NGO that helps people with intellectual disabilities. The oldest participant this year is a 71-year-old man.

Santa's little helpers

Sky's the limit for symbol of HK prosperity

A landmark in Hong Kong's skyline, the architecturally brilliant Bank of China Tower's fung shui still sparks animated discussion among urban-myth mongers. But the 316-metre structure, completed in 1989, was never intended to rain down bad luck on its neighbours, be it Government House, BoC's main local competitor, Hongkong and Shanghai Bank, or otherwise.
