The government has left many questions unanswered in its insistence on rezoning the People's Liberation Army berth on the Central waterfront as a military site, a change from its previous status as public open space.

His suggestion comes amid fears that the dream of a continuous promenade along the new waterfront created by reclamation in Central and Wan Chai will not be realised.

We regret that the article ("Attack on tycoons with no conscience", April 22) helped perpetuate stereotypes at the expense of truth. The Cheung Kong and Hutchison Whampoa groups - which are firmly rooted in Hong Kong - are a corporate family of 270,000 employees across 52 nations.

Slice of harbour promenade to be handed to army

A section of the newly reclaimed Central waterfront promenade will be handed over to the People's Liberation Army, to the shock of concern groups which are fighting against a rezoning plan to limit public access.

My family thoroughly enjoyed our Easter weekend excursion along the new Central waterfront promenade. What a shame that we were chased by three security officials who instructed my children that they were not allowed to ride their tricycles along the walkway.
