A 36-year-old man fell to his death while cleaning a window at his Chai Wan home in preparation for the Lunar New Year. He fell when the window he was washing broke loose on the 14th floor of Walton Estate, Yee Fung Street, at 2.40pm. A 96-year-old woman was pushed to the ground and robbed of her gold earrings and handbag on a public housing estate in Chai Wan yesterday. She suffered injuries to her mouth and neck and lost her dentures when she was attacked from behind in the 23rd-floor corridor of Yu Hing House on Hing Wah Estate at about 1pm. A Chai Wan fireman was in critical condition last night after being rescued from a charcoal-burning suicide bid by his 11-year-old son. A father and son drowned when a barge overturned in rough seas off Shek O yesterday.
The 49-metre vessel, which was carrying a load of sand and stones, was being towed by a tugboat from Shek O quarry to Yau Tong when it was overwhelmed by choppy seas off Cape D'Aguilar and capsized at about 4.30pm, sending the father and his two sons into the water.4 Aug 2009 - 12:00am
