Patrick Kane scored two goals and Corey Crawford made 24 saves as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Boston Bruins 3-1 on Saturday to take a 3-2 lead in the Stanley Cup finals.

The Chicago Blackhawks pushed Stanley Cup champions the Los Angeles Kings to the brink of elimination from the Western Conference finals with a thrilling 3-2 victory in game four.

Top-seeded Chicago twice trailed in a high-energy encounter of hard hits at Staples Center before taking the lead for good when right wing Marian Hossa scored with a slapshot early in the third period.

There's a sign in the hallway that runs from the home locker room to the ice at the United Centre. It says "EARN IT," and it was sure hard to argue that the Chicago Blackhawks haven't done just that during an impressive start to the Western Conference finals.

Blackhawks advance after overtime goal against Red Wings

The Chicago Blackhawks' Brent Seabrook celebratea his overtime goal to beat the Detroit Red Wings, 2-1, in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals at the United Center in Chicago.

Brent Seabrook scored 3:35 into overtime to give Chicago a 2-1 victory over Detroit as the Blackhawks stormed back from a 3-1 deficit to win their quarter-final series in seven games.

Down one goal with the prospect of a season implosion very much looming, the Chicago Blackhawks and their array of goal-scoring whizzes went on a third-period power play. They did not score a goal. In fact, did not muster a shot.

Blackhawks are simply amazing

The hulking behemoths in the NFL can only play one game a week because the intensity and ferocity of their physical collisions dictates they need sufficient rest to recoup. But heavily padded and protected as they may be, none of their bone-jarring impacts occur when they are moving at about 60 kilometres per hour, the average speed of a hockey player in full stride.
