Miner files data it says backs income figures

Real Gold Mining yesterday released financial data that it said demonstrated there were no discrepancies between the 2009 revenue and net income figures it reported to the Hong Kong stock exchange and those it filed with the central government.

Kiu Hung to invest up to HK$600m in mines

Kiu Hung Energy, a loss-making toymaker that diversified into coal mining two years ago, plans to plough up to HK$600 million over the next two years to develop two new mines in Inner Mongolia.

The company had begun production in its first mine called Huanghuashan in Tongliao, with an annual output capacity of 300,000 tonnes, said chairman Joseph Hui Kee-fung.

Water supplies set to flow again

Water supplies to nearly 60,000 residents of a town in Inner Mongolia will be restored today when sanitation workers finish cleaning pipelines after thousands fell ill from contaminated water.

Some 4,307 people became sick and the Health Bureau in Chifeng said 1,209 remained in hospital.

Number poisoned by contaminated tap water passes 4,000

Tap water contamination in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has made 4,020 people ill since last Saturday, with 88 still in hospital.

Xinhua reported that water supply to Chifeng city centre, a 17 square kilometre area with 58,000 people, was contaminated by an overflow of rainwater on Thursday last week.

Real Gold production expected to surge 378pc

Police close crooked online casino

A crooked online casino was closed and four of its operators were arrested in Liaoning province last week.

According to local Liao Shen newspaper, police uncovered the operation in February when they arrested one of its staff trying to set up a branch in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia. The casino operators were reported to have launched the site in October last year.
