Food packaging firm CPMC up 13pc on debut

Shares of food packaging firm CPMC Holdings, which raised HK$1.08 billion in an initial public offering, closed 13.4 per cent higher in their trading debut yesterday.

Fewer one-off gains drag down China Foods net

China Foods, the edible oil and beverage unit of the mainland's largest food importer and exporter, said net profit fell 38.9 per cent last year as it generated fewer one-off gains.

Net income for the year to December dropped to HK$483.43 million from HK$791.69 million a year earlier.

China Agri lifts IPO on earnings growth

China Agri Holdings, a unit of the mainland's largest grain trader Cofco International, had boosted the size of its Hong Kong initial public offering by about 50 per cent because of its strong earnings growth, market sources said.

Special dividend lifts Cofco shares

Shares in Cofco International, the largest grain trader in China, surged to their highest level in at least 17 years after it proposed a special dividend related to the spin-off of its unit China Agri Holdings.

The stock gained 9.51 per cent or 79 HK cents to close at HK$9.10 yesterday. It has risen 15.8 per cent this year.

HK foreign reserves edge higher to US$122b

Hong Kong's foreign-currency reserves amounted to US$122.3 billion at the end of last month, up just 0.3 per cent from July, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority said yesterday. The latest figures made Hong Kong the seventh-largest holder of foreign-currency reserves after Japan, the mainland, Taiwan, South Korea, Russia and India.
