Hi Fi blows away China Sea rivals

Neil Pryde's Welbourne 52 yacht, Hi Fi, took line honours in the Rolex China Sea Race yesterday, finishing in Subic Bay, the Philippines, in 67 hours and 26 minutes to slice nearly four hours off their previous record, set in 2008. Hi Fi also won the IRC Racing A division overall. 'We had a game plan which we stuck to pretty well,' owner and skipper Pryde said.

Tom Lin Shu-yu's feature-length directorial debut Winds of September is the first part of a trilogy produced by veteran Hong Kong filmmaker Eric Tsang Chi-wai. Filmed in the 32-year-old Taiwanese writer-director's hometown of Hsinchu, it portrays nine high school students' bitter-sweet adolescent lives.

Fickle winds deny early race result

MANDALAY and X-Rated were last night locked in a tense battle for line honours in the 1993 San Fernando yacht race.

A petering breeze denied both yachts an opportunity to complete the crossing of the China Sea before nightfall last night.
