Ex-boyfriend jailed for chopper attack

A man was jailed for 10 months yesterday for attacking his ex-girlfriend's lover with a chopper. Chan Yat-fu, 32, had pleaded guilty to one count of wounding with intent. The District Court judge noted Chan's deep remorse over the February 15 attack, which left the victim with an 8cm gash, but said the offence was serious.

Market managers attacked with chopper

A decorator attacked two market managers with a chopper in a dispute at King Lam Estate yesterday. One of the managers suffered shoulder and facial wounds, the other a thigh injury. The decorator, 48, who was arrested, was also injured. All were treated at Tseung Kwan O Hospital. The suspect and a manager were in serious condition. The other manager was discharged.

Tycoon's helicopter irks nearby resident

Police are investigating a complaint about noise from a helicopter landing and taking off from tycoon Cecil Chao Sze-tsung's luxury villa in Southern District.

The complaint was lodged by an unidentified foreign woman resident, who filed a report to police at about 11.30am yesterday, saying the helicopter had taken off from Villa Cecil in Victoria Road.

Cashier chopped

A restaurant cashier was attacked by a masked man with a chopper as he walked home from work. The 22-year-old victim, surnamed Chan, was walking along Castle Peak Road in Yuen Long at 12.35am when he was confronted and chopped on his arm. The attacker then fled in a waiting car.
