Christian Lacroix

Meet Schiaparelli's new designer

When PR hound and fashion victim Edina Monsoon, the character from British comedy and fashion-world parody Absolutely Fabulous, famously said - "It's Lacroix, sweetie, Lacroix!" - nobody knew it would ring so true 20 years on.

Duckie Brown

Quote

'The shoulder of a jacket is always the starting point for every collection and then we work from there. Each collection begins where the last one left off. Everything around us inspires us: the people we know, the places we go and the people who buy Duckie Brown.'

Style guru

Dirty Denim

While the majority of designers are hedging their bets that denim is going to be big news next season, Calvin Klein has taken that most casual of clothing to another level. Next month the American designer will launch his Dirty Denim collection - which, as the name implies, has been specially treated to look worn, frayed and slightly fatigued.

Hot buys: It was a sweltering Thursday evening, and guess what people were buying at the new Vivienne Westwood in-store boutique in Seibu, Pacific Place? Black wool coats with thick, faux fur trim. Priced at $9,650, the mid-length coats were snapped up on the first day. Also popular were skinny T-shirts printed with what looked like scattered Smarties, which sold for $1,950 a pop.
