Filmmaker tweaks an oldie for Cannes

Hong Kong doesn't have much of a presence at this year's Cannes Film Festival, which starts on May 14, other than one intriguing special screening. The French will debut Wong Kar-wai's Ashes of Time Redux. The title suffix normally means the director has recut his movie.

Heart of a man

HE MAY BE 54, but Christopher Doyle hasn't lost his boyish ways. His glances are alert yet mischievous and he likes to tease, often breaking into a hearty laugh. This isn't to say he's a frivolous man: he has a way of addressing questions as if they're philosophical inquiries about life.

Video and photo exhibition

A multimedia exhibition by award-winning cinematographer Christopher Doyle is being staged at Taikoo Place in Quarry Bay till March 25.

The Hong Kong-based Doyle, with his atmospheric and improvisational photography style, is one of the most respected cinematographers in the world.
