FYI: Some of Hollywood's finest are proud members of the Church of Scientology. What is it about?

Tom Cruise was introduced by his first wife, actress Mimi Rogers, and has extended the favour to new squeeze Katie Holmes. Actors Patrick Swayze and John Travolta belong, as do Kirstie Alley and Juliette Lewis. Musicians Beck, Sonny Bono and Isaac Hayes are convinced, but Van Morrison, Ricky Martin, Jerry Seinfeld and the two Stones - Oliver and Sharon - have turned their backs on it.

Religion not issue in Kidman-Cruise split

I refer to the report headlined 'Beck joins Scientologists' (South China Morning Post, May 1).

I am disappointed in articles which gossip and are inaccurate. A case in point: religion is clearly not an issue in the break-up of Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, as their publicists clearly stated.

Church rooted in East's truths

I refer to the report on Scientology in India ('Scientology push irks Hindus', South China Morning Post, May 22), which I felt was misleading in its representation of our church.

Scientology is a religion and a church in the truest sense of the words, and is recognised as such the world over.

Give church a chance

I think it is unfortunate that Scientology should be introduced to your readers in Hong Kong ('A church and its critics', Sunday Morning Post, February 2), with a critically-slanted piece from Britain's Sunday Times.

Nothing dark about Scientology

YOUR article headed 'Dark powers of celebrity sect' (Sunday Morning Post, August 7) got some things wrong in its cynical view of celebrities and their membership of the Church of Scientology.

To begin with, Scientology is not a 'secret' organisation, as anyone who cares to walk into a Scientology organisation and take a look, will find.
