Cirque du Soleil performer dies after falling during performance

At first, Heather Bell thought the falling woman was part of the show. She turned to her sister Madelyn and said "whoa". Cirque du Soleil's performance of Ka - an elaborate acrobatic production featuring the company's trademark, daring aerial work - had reached its climactic battle scene on Saturday night when something went horribly wrong.

Naughty by nature

Last Monday, at Club Cubic in Macau's City of Dreams, a group of about 200 guests attended an unveiling: the first public performance of Taboo, billed as a 'seductive entertainment extraordinaire'. Its creator, Franco Dragone - the man who brought The House of Dancing Water to City of Dreams - described it as an 'open rehearsal' in which the audience would play a vital part.

A stage show with a twist

Warning: do not try this at home. Then again, the odds are that you are incapable of bending so far back that your head is between your knees while your chest and feet remain on the ground. Unless, that is, you happen to be a professional contortionist like Ganchimeg Oyunchimeg.

Wild circus of stunts and machines hitting city

If wild machines in dramatic circus performances sound right up your street, then you're in for a treat at Cirque Mechanics' Birdhouse Factory show.

The circus troupe will perform for 15 shows, starting next month, at the Lyric Theatre at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Wan Chai. We hear that among the sights on show, hundreds of birdhouses will be flying by.

SHOWBIZ takes centre stage

It's showtime at big meeting venues these days. But the Lion City is holding the main event after bringing a hit musical version of one of Disney's best-loved creations to town.

Marina Bay Sands (MBS) in Singapore has set the stage for productions such as The Lion King, which opened at the resort's 1,680-seat Sands Theatre last month.
