Car lovers and Francophiles gathered in the Centenary Room of the Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel to celebrate the opening of Hong Kong's first showroom for Citroen's DS concept line, now open for business on Gloucester Road, Wan Chai.

Citroen model sought

Sales of Citroen-Fukang cars produced by the Sino-French joint venture Dongfeng Citroen Automobile in Wuhan reached 5,000 units in June to place it second in sales volume in the mainland. In the first half of the year, production of the company's car grew 24 per cent from a year ago, with sales volume rising 35.27 per cent and sales income up 27.17 per cent.

Denway Investment

Denway Investment, which controls 43 per cent of troubled car-maker Guangzhou Peugeot Automobile, rallied 20.7 per cent yesterday amid talk that a deal may be near on a new partner for the loss-making vehicle project.

Denway's shares closed at $1.57.

The counter has risen 57 per cent in the past five sessions.
