Long wait ahead for Hong Kong's new TV licences

The minister in charge of broadcasting policy has hinted there could still be a long wait for a decision on new free-to-air television licences.

ATV rallied its staff outside the Admiralty government headquarters yesterday for a live broadcast to oppose a "disastrous" pledge by the former administration to issue new licences for television broadcasting.

City Telecom looks to courts over television licence delay

City Telecom may try to seek a judicial review if the government refuses to make a decision on new free-to-air television licences, chairman Ricky Wong Wai-kay said yesterday.

"A judicial review is definitely something a commercial entity would consider," he said, adding that it was "only one of the options to be considered".
