Church abusing its privileged position as caretaker of Kowloon landmark

That local Catholic and Anglican church leaders should accuse ordinary Hong Kong people of being selfish is stunning in view of the ruthless manner in which both churches pursue their own ends. They ignore the broader interests of the community at large when these are in contrast to their own objectives.

New height limits to cut TST down to size

The Town Planning Board is reintroducing height restrictions for Tsim Sha Tsui buildings to prevent high-rises on the waterfront.

The restrictions were relaxed after Kai Tak Airport closed in 1998.

The board said yesterday the height and gross floor area of all new buildings in the area would be limited.

Heritage critics far from rapt over shopping bag stunt for clock tower

A Tourist Board initiative to wrap a giant shopping bag around the Tsim Sha Tsui clock tower has been branded a joke and an insult to the 94-year-old building.

The board wants to highlight the structure's heritage value during the Hong Kong Shopping Festival, which runs from June 26 to August 31.

Pointless and unpleasant construction site

From where I live in Tsim Sha Tsui I can see all the work going on to provide an extension to the KCR Corporation's East Rail line.

When it is finished Hunghom station will be connected to a new station in Tsim Sha Tsui.

I do not understand why the KCRC is bothering with this work.

Pioneer in lease-back deal

Pioneer Global Group will pay HK$40 million for the 13th floor and a portion of 12th floor occupied by the staircase of Tower A, Mandarin Plaza in Tsim Sha Tsui. The vendor, China International Travel Service Hong Kong will lease back the office at a monthly rental of HK$315,952.
