Coca-Cola opens Yangon bottling plant in US$200m five-year deal

Coca-Cola began bottling its famous soft drink in Myanmar yesterday as part of a planned five-year, US$200 million investment after having no local production for more than 60 years.

Coca-Cola apology as drinks canned

Provincial authorities have ordered Coca-Cola (Shanxi) to suspend production after confirming media reports that about 120,000 boxes of soft drinks produced at the Shanxi factory were tainted with chlorine.

The move comes after Coca-Cola said less than two weeks ago that the allegations, reported by mainland media, were false.

Warburg sold US$2.3m of Huiyuan bonds

China Huiyuan Juice Group says one of its pre-listing cornerstone investors, Warburg Pincus, has sold only US$2.3 million of its US$73.3 million worth of convertible bonds and not the whole amount, as had previously been reported. The bonds are due on June 28, 2011. The company also says chairman and controlling shareholder Zhu Xinli has no intention to reduce his stake.

Huiyuan profit slumps 86pc to 88.9m yuan

China Huiyuan Juice Group reported net profit fell 86.11 per cent to 88.94 million yuan (HK$100.89 million) last year from 2007. The result was hurt by a drop in the fair value of the conversion rights of the firm's convertible bonds amid a slump in the stock.
