Toronto mayor Rob Ford denied he smokes crack cocaine and said he is not an addict, breaking a week of silence over reports of a video purportedly showing him using the drug.

And they are even offering punters a free "line" of the drug that sells for HK$1,500 a gram to prove the quality of their product.

Man arrested for large cocaine haul

A South American man has been arrested for trying to smuggle HK$7.73 million worth of cocaine into Hong Kong by dissolving the drug in a liquid and soaking his clothes and suitcase with it.

The 49-year-old man was intercepted by customs officers when he arrived from Córdoba, Argentina on Monday afternoon.

A yacht that washed up on a deserted tropical island in the South Pacific with a badly decomposed body on board was carrying more than 200kg of cocaine worth up to US$120 million, police said yesterday.

Australian Federal Police said international law agencies had been monitoring the 13-metre yacht JeReVe from when it left South America until they lost contact with it last month.

Anti-drug police in landlocked Paraguay said they seized 1,700 kilos (3,750 pounds) of cocaine at a remote site on the border with Brazil and arrested 19 suspects.

“This is possibly the largest shipment ever seized up to now,” the head of the country’s anti-drug force, Francisco de Vargas, said on Telefuturo TV network.

Customs seizes record HK$760m cocaine haul

A joint operation between Hong Kong and US authorities has led to the city's biggest seizure of cocaine.

Some 649kg of the drug, with an estimated street value of HK$760 million, was discovered in a shipping container that arrived from Ecuador on Wednesday, following a tip-off from the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
