A green head full of ideas

Seventeen-year-old Tiffany Wong Hoi-shan says: 'Art to me is a source of energy. It's the fuel that powers me through all the difficulties I face in life.'

It certainly seems to be working.

David Furnish (above), the sophisticated yang to Elton John's flamboyant yin, has become a 'mother', according to an American registrar's documents. The former advertising executive has been credited with saving the career of his ageing pop-star partner and the 17-year relationship has seen the Canadian mould the one-time cocaine-addled alcoholic into A-list royalty - and, now, a parent.

Forget shopping, this model's at work

Model-about-town Lisa Selesner has finally tied the knot with actor Daniel Wu Yin-cho but, as a modern couple, the pair are maintaining separate finances. Which may explain the wistful expression on Selesner's face as she showed off a diamond ring costing more than HK$1 million at Chanel's launch of its 18 Vendome jewellery collection.

New reality: if you think you can't afford it, you don't need to ask

The most surprising and unusual aspect of Chanel's Bijoux de Diamants jewellery exhibition, which opened with a reception at the Mandarin Oriental Connaught Room on Tuesday, wasn't that it paid tribute to Coco Chanel's very first jewellery collection in 1932, or that some of the standout pieces are presented against a video backdrop that creates a three-dimensional outer-space feel.

'I said that black was the essence of it all,' Coco once said, a statement that would have made her popular with an earlier icon, Henry Ford, when he produced the Model T.

The collection marks a return to the classic style of Coco Chanel.

Flower power

Coco Chanel redefined fashion with her various signature trademarks: the little black dress, long pearls and, of course, her signature Camelia flower. Her favourite bloom gets the star treatment this season with the launch of Chanel's Camelia jewellery flower watch (left; $115,100).
