BEA targets Taiwanese bank, mainland expansion

Bank of East Asia is in talks to make an acquisition in Taiwan and also hopes to wrap up an agreement on launching a joint-venture asset management operation on the mainland by the end of the year, according to chairman David Li Kwok-po.

Bank issue launch soon

STANDARD Chartered Bank's long-awaited $1 billion mortgage-backed security (MBS) issue will be launched soon, bankers say.

The deal would be in three tranches with two senior and one subordinated, they said yesterday.

The possible split would be $100 million subordinated and the rest split between the senior tranches.
