Lament of Games 'loss'

AM I alone in wondering where the TV coverage of the Commonwealth Games in Victoria has got to? All I can find is somewhat out-of-date coverage of the Goodwill Games which ended weeks ago. Considering that Hong Kong is part of the Commonwealth, I find it hard to believe that Hong Kong television is not showing the Games live. Surely we owe it to our athletes.

HK roadshow borrow their way to top 20

HONG KONG, using borrowed bikes and equipment, finally washed away their past sins after two cyclists finished in the top 20 of the fiercely demanding 182-kilometre road race at the Commonwealth Games in Victoria.

Territory's top guns fire out of medal range

GILBERT U, using his repaired gun, and partner Li Hao-jian finished a respectable seventh in the centre-fire pistol competition in the Commonwealth Games at Victoria's Heals Range.

The pair combined for a total of 1,123 points, 12 points behind the sixth-placed Welsh duo of Michael Jay and Richard Craven.

HK fly the flag as the Games begin

HONG KONG, led by flag-bearer Chan Chi-choi, were without six swimmers and four cyclists - excused from ceremonies because they are in action today - as the Commonwealth Games opened yesterday.

They were also missing the men's gymnastics squad, who were tending to their injured teammate Leung Kwok-keung.

HK feel the squeeze

THE Commonwealth Games media guide lists Hong Kong as having the highest population density of all the 64 competing nations with 5,488 persons per square kilometre.

And the 75 member Hong Kong team are somewhat reluctantly forced to feel right at home in their cramped quarters at the Athletes' Village.
