CR Logic in $438m plant expansion

Red chip China Resources (CR) Logic will invest HK$438 million to expand air-conditioner compressor production in China.

The company has agreed to acquire production lines and related technology from two Japanese firms for HK$206 million.

CR Logic will also pay Sanyo Electric royalties for seven years.

Hualing maps out strategy for air-conditioner plants

HUALING Holdings is to increase the use of mainland-made components in the manufacture of air-conditioners to lower costs in a highly competitive industry.

Managing director Bi Qing yesterday forecast domestically produced components could make up 30 per cent of the total components used in the production of air-conditioners by 1996.

Shanghai Refrigerator profitable, controversial

SHANGHAI Refrigerator Compressor is the first B share issue for half a year, and it has taken that long for the last few issues to climb back near their initial prices.

It was listed on January 18, having been placed late in 1992 at US$4.61 (HK$35.87 at today's rate). By the new year holiday, the B shares had risen to US$5.35 - an appreciation of 16.1 per cent.
