Fifteen developers submitted expressions of interest yesterday in tendering for the MTR's proposed HK$15 billion Tai Wai Station commercial and residential project.

Woman held after weight thrown

A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of throwing a 2.2kg weightlifting plate off the second floor inside a shopping centre in Tsuen Wan. Initial investigation showed the woman, believed to be mentally retarded, threw the steel disc from a second-floor fitness centre in Concord Square in Chuen Lung Street at about 2pm, police said.

Pressure to drive down data centre rentals unlikely

The dotcom sector's decline has had little impact on office space demand, as purpose-built projects that can serve as data centres are still in short supply.

Despite the financial troubles many dotcom companies are facing, property consultants believe the demand for server co-location centres will remain strong as e-commerce gains momentum.

Government's 40pc premium reduction not low enough for Hang Lung

Hang Lung Development probably will reject the HK$600 million land premium being asked by the Government for the conversion of an industrial site into a residential development in Tsuen Wan.

A company official said the offer - more than a 40 per cent reduction on the previous one - was still too high.
