Cepa chief set to kick-start plans for investment

After several months of little progress on new projects, Consolidated Electric Power Asia (Cepa) has said it hopes to be able to get stalled ventures moving again and look for new opportunities, particularly in the mainland and the Philippines.

This time last year, Peregrine Brokerage put a buy on the stock, saying it provided an attractive play on Asia's power shortage. This was poor advice. Cepa's many schemes have since been dogged by problems.

Cepa signs power pact

CONSOLIDATED Electric Power Asia (Cepa) has signed a power buying agreement for the first phase of a 5,280 megawatt power station complex in Pakistan.

Cepa, the Hong Kong-listed power generating arm of Hopewell Holdings, signed the agreement for the 1,320 mW first phase of the plant with the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority in Lahore last Friday.
