Renewed warning on lens solution

The Department of Health has renewed its warning to contact-lens wearers not to use a multipurpose solution produced by US eye-care giant Bausch & Lomb which has been blamed for fungal infections.

The warning came after the US government advised wearers to stop using it immediately.

'I fear that my sight will never recover'

A Hong Kong woman who switched to using ReNu solution nearly six months ago had an operation for a corneal ulcer last night.

'My eyesight might not recover 100 per cent. My doctor said that it would be a miracle if my eye condition remains stable in the coming three to four months,' the 38-year-old, who would refer to herself only as Mabel, told the Post.
