Credit Agricole quarterly profit dives more than two thirds

Credit Agricole said quarterly net income plunged 67 per cent as the French lender took a 427 million-euro (US$534 million) impairment on its stake in Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo and its Greek Emporiki unit again weighed on results.

CLSA buys 20pc Donghua stake

CLSA Asia Pacific's private equity arm has agreed to pay $1.93 billion for a 20 per cent stake in mainland asphalt trader Shanghai Donghua Petrochemical.

CLSA Capital Partners, with more than US$1 billion under management, plans to buy 175 million new H shares of Donghua for $1.10 each, according to Donghua.

New World calls on banks to arrange $2.3b City Team loan

New World Development has mandated BA Asia, Banque Nationale de Paris, Credit Agricole Indosuez, Credit Lyonnais, Standard Chartered Bank and Westdeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale to arrange a 33-month, $2.3 billion loan facility for City Team Development. The money will be used to finance the construction of a Private Sector Participation Scheme housing project in Kowloon on Choi Hung Road.

Indosuez WI Carr scraps HK position

Indosuez W.I. Carr Securities yesterday said Hong Kong managing director and head of North Asian operations John Mulcahy resigned after the bank decided to scrap his position as part of a strategic review.

INDOSUEZ Asia Investment Services, an Asian fund management company within the Banque Indosuez Group, is being renamed Indosuez Asset Management Asia (IAMA), effective immediately.
