Dissident demands project stopped

CHINESE dissident writer Dai Qing has demanded that the leadership halts work on the Three Gorges project.

'The Three Gorges project only commenced as a result of political motives by Deng Xiaoping ,' said Dai, a former reporter at state-run newspaper Guangming Daily, at a news conference in Washington.
