Dan Ryan

Dan Ryan's Chicago Grill,

Festival Walk, Kowloon Tong

The more restaurants and cafes I visit boasting children's menus, the more I realise why a certain fast-food place with the golden arches gets our repeat custom.

Non-smokers skip doubtful Dan's

At 4 pm on Saturday, my wife and I tried to book a table for two for a post-movie dinner at 6.45 pm at Dan Ryan's in Pacific Place. We were told this was OK and we then asked for a non-smoking table. The odd reply was 'we will do our best because we are very busy'.

Mall restaurants have lost the plot

I tried to book a table at Dan Ryan's outlet in Festival Walk for 7pm, on Friday, January 12 for a small gathering with some friends from Australia.

However, I was told that we would have to finish our meal and leave by 8.30pm in order for the restaurant to admit another group of diners.

Hale but not hearty

WHEN O'Brien's opened three months ago, it seemed certain to challenge Dan Ryan's status as Hong Kong's premier burgers-and-beer joint.

Far more comfortable than either of Dan Ryan's locations, O'Brien's appeared set to cash in on a concept for which Hong Kong has an apparently endless appetite.

Another course in Americana

OBJECTIVELY rating Ruby Tuesday, which opened in Ocean Terminal in August, is no easy feat. The moment you see the balloons at the entrance, you wonder if you've stumbled into a new Dan Ryan's or a good rip-off. It's almost impossible not to compare the two.

ON July 22, my husband, three-year-old son and I went to Dan Ryan's, in Pacific Place, for dinner, where he was given a balloon by staff. We then went to see a film, Beethoven's 2nd at UA Queensway, at 9.30pm.

TUT, tut, Dan Ryan's.

Taking the waters brings miracle cure

ONE thing's for sure. This town is a crazy place. Lunchtime at Dan Ryan's in Pacific Place where a smartly dressed gentleman hobbles painfully in on crutches and eases himself on to a stool by the bar and rests his crutches on the floor.

Waiter, you'll thank me when you've been fired

THERE were an awful lot of complaints in the restaurants and shops around Pacific Place yesterday lunchtime.

We feel rather sorry for the staff in Dan Ryan's, Watson's and other places, who must have wondered why the world had taken a sudden dislike to them.

Lack of assistant foils border raid

THERE was more concentrated zanyness on the streets of Hong Kong on Sunday than has probably ever been seen in this city before.

More than 300 people entered the gnoK gnoH Scavenger Hunt. The challenge, as we mentioned on Saturday, was to perform 50 tasks in a nine-hour period.
