David Chu

Britain played important role

I USUALLY enjoy David Chu's South China Morning Post column. It tends to be upbeat and pro-Hong Kong and I fully concur with such feelings. I must however, take issue with Mr Chu's offering on October 18.

Wrong about election bar

I REFER to Mr David Chu's letter which was published in the South China Morning Post, on September 14. Mr Chu and I, not surprisingly, hold different views about China's legal system.

Stuck in the gutter

I HAVE long feared that Hongkong's role as an international business centre - so vital for sustaining economic growth - would be gravely jeopardised by thoughtless Chinese actions before or after 1997.

Politics and race just don't mix, Mr Chu

RACE is the most complex and sensitive of subjects. I touch upon it with hesitation. My intention is to make a single point; one, I believe, of great importance to Hongkong. That point is: we must keep race and politics separate. We must not politicise race. We must not racialise our politics. If we do so, we create a volatile mixture which may easily explode in our faces.
