Three-horse pile-up 'accidental'

The stewards last night returned an 'accidental' verdict at the inquiry into the three-horse pile-up at Sha Tin a week ago. The decision followed the same finding at Wednesday's inquiry into David Harrison's horrific fall at the track on May 30.

Stipendiary stewards last night delivered a finding of 'accidental' after inquiring into the Sha Tin fall last Wednesday which left jockey David Harrison in critical condition.

The panel took evidence from jockeys Anton Marcus (Romantic Symphony) and John Egan (Stylish), as well as Bruce Hutchison, the trainer of the horse from which Harrison fell, My Chief.

Welsh rider given longer spell

Welsh jockey David Harrison had his initial licence to ride in Hong Kong extended yesterday - but the axe fell on Frenchman Freddie Sanchez.

Harrison rode in this year's Melbourne Cup and won last year's Hong Kong Derby on 132-1 shot Holy Grail. He can now ride here until March 15.
