Blinkered Masquerader ready to steal show

Owner Leung Kai-fei won the 2004 Hong Kong Derby with Lucky Owners and couldn't relive the dream in this season's classic with Masquerader, but the Tony Millard-trained runner appears to be on the right path with an encouraging third in the Class One Venus Handicap (1,200m) at the all-dirt meeting on Wednesday night.

Moore and Prebble prove they are a Supreme pair

John Moore deflected all the praise to Brett Prebble, with whom he shared a double, for his strong-arm ride on his first winner and lamented a Mercedes-Benz Derby that came too soon for his other.

Moore said Prebble's use of the whip was key to Supreme Knight's victory, with the under-done four-year-old needing some extra motivation down the stretch.
