Costume calamities to avoid

1 Lady Gaga

Surely, the worst costume failure is to dress up as Lady Gaga for a Christmas ball. Imagine showing up in a meat dress among all those elegant people. It would be hilarious. But don't expect to be invited for a dance.

A feast of film for the fright of your life

Film has the potential to arouse fear more than almost any other form of storytelling. And since it's Halloween, there's no better way to get into the ghostly spirit than to talk about scary films - ones that make your blood curdle. So, without further ado, here are Sunday Young Post's picks for the most spooktacular films of all time ...

Hero auctioneer should consider giving up day job

Instead of running an auction house, maybe Carson Chan Kai-shun should don a cape and mask as a crime fighter. The local managing director of Bonhams helped foil a would-be robber near his Pacific Place office on Monday afternoon.

Larry Bishop, the star of biker movies of the 1960s and 70s, writes, directs and stars in this action movie after much persuasion from his self-professed fan Quentin Tarantino, who oversees the production of this bizarre blend of arthouse and grindhouse cinema.

Auditions for Halloween roles a real scream

It was the sort of audition where the more over the top the performance, the better the chance of getting called back.

It's only a movie. I never get spooked by movies!

I do! I prefer comedies. I don't like scary movies.

You're such wimps! There's nothing like a good scare.

Do you like watching horror movies?

Name: Nicole Fu

Age: 16

Top tunes: Twins' songs

I seldom watch horror movies because I sometimes have nightmares afterwards. It also makes me feel afraid at night, especially when I go to sleep. I saw a Japanese horror movie recently, One Missed Call, and it was really scary. Japanese horror films scare me the most.

Lame Movie Name

Job description: Movie names should suggest, entice and intrigue. Action film titles, for instance, are typically a punchy monosyllabic one-two (the Die Hard school of movie naming). Good dramatic names often use words that play on the emotions, or have a touch of irony (Postcards from the Edge, Closer).

Scary Movie 3

Everything from The Lord Of The Rings to 8 Mile are given the spoof treatment in this latest in the series of horror movies for those who hate the horror genre.

'Scary Movie 3 is a veritable time capsule of of-this-moment kitsch, schlock and bad taste. And it's funny, too.'
