Most food companies prefer to emphasise the humane way they dispatch animals. Thai food group Betagro and its Hong Kong distributer Sutherland seem to do the opposite.

Spreading the word on the buses

On the bus to work yesterday, I was disturbed as usual by the cacophony coming from the TV. It appeared to be some melodramatic soap opera about a young man in a coma and his distraught mother. It caught my attention because much of the dialogue was in very bad English.

Peak raid

TWO men fled with $600 from a maid's purse in a flat on Chatham Path on The Peak when they were disturbed while ransacking the flat by the 35-year-old occupier.

Peak robbery

BELGIUM Consul-General Piet Steel's home in Barker Road, the Peak, was burgled yesterday while he was on holiday with his family. The burglar was disturbed by a maid and fled with her handbag containing about $700.
