That beats everything

For many parents, trying to get children to do their music practice requires a tricky combination of encouragement, cajoling and incentive. But point them towards the drums and no second reminder is needed.

Beats for the better

I ENROLLED IN drumming lessons almost by accident, and certainly not due to any musical talent. It began with the unlikely acquisition of a Laotian drum, and a more stressful job.

'A drum - the perfect antidote to stress,' a friend said when she saw my drum, an impulse buy on the way to Luang Prabang Airport.

Live Music

If you're already running scared from that distant sound of approaching 'thunder', watch out - Hong Kong is rocking to a new beat. Having wowed the crowd at this year's Rugby Sevens and converted a few of the leaden-footed stadium faithful to twinkle-toed boppers, Djembe Massive are bashing out a different vibe to that usually found on the local live scene.
