Bird flu worries are continuing to reverberate through the mainland's stock markets, with carmakers' shares now rising on expectations that more people will use private cars rather than risk exposure to H7N9 by using public transport.

PLA tests nuclear missile as war games end

The PLA tested a medium-range nuclear missile this week as the military wrapped up its massive war games off the Taiwan Strait, the Washington Times reported yesterday.

US military satellites tracked a CSS-2 intermediate-range ballistic missile, which carried a dummy warhead, fired from a test facility in northern China on Tuesday, the paper reported on its Web site.
