Pair get 15 years for smuggling cocaine to HK

A Paraguayan and his Chinese accomplice were jailed for 15 years yesterday for smuggling HK$67 million worth of cocaine from South America to Hong Kong.

The consequences of their actions were 'beyond imagination', Madam Justice Esther Toh Lye-ping said.

Worker jailed for manufacturing cocaine

A transportation worker was jailed for 11 years and four months yesterday after admitting manufacturing cocaine and using a false identity card, the Court of First Instance heard. On February 23 last year a police raid in Lee Chung-tai's Sham Tseng premises found 391.62 grams of sodium hydroxide, an ingredient used to make cocaine.

Inspections have been stepped up at the airport's cargo terminal after 2kg of cocaine was found concealed in parcels of children's books.

Colombians convicted after cocaine 'sting'

Two Colombians have been found guilty of conspiring to import large quantities of cocaine from the mainland on a continuing basis.

It took only a few hours for a Court of First Instance jury to unanimously convict the pair, Wilson Alberto Corredor Medina, 33, and Jose Emil Villamil Diaz, 28, on a single count each of conspiracy to traffic in a dangerous drug.
