Girl under observation

The four-year-old girl who survived a fall from a shopping mall balcony when her mother leaped to her death is under observation at Caritas Medical Centre.

Girl hurled from balcony in mall

A family lunch outing ended in tragedy yesterday when a mother hurled her four-year-old daughter from the seventh floor of a Sham Shui Po mall, before leaping to her death.

The child was saved by a net installed three floors below, but her mother crashed through the net and landed on a stage on the ground floor. She was certified dead at the scene.

Go green this Christmas: the Megaman Recycled Material Christmas Decoration Competition 2007 is now open for applications.

The competition is jointly presented by Christian Action and Megaman. It aims to enhance the environmental awareness of students and the public and encourage them to have an environmentally friendly Christmas.

Woman found dead near empty insecticide bottle

A 36-year-old woman living with a married man was found dead beside an empty bottle of insect killer at her flat in Western. Police found five suicide notes in the flat. In a separate case, police are trying to identify the body of an elderly man who jumped to his death at Dragon Centre in Yen Chow Street, Shamshuipo, at 8.30am.

18 trapped on roller-coaster

Eighteen people riding an indoor roller-coaster were trapped eight floors up for more than 10 minutes in a Shamshuipo shopping arcade when the mains power went off. The Sky Train, which runs round the Dragon Centre's atrium, came to a halt at 2.35 pm after leaving the platform. The fun-ride was reopened at about 3.30 pm after an inspection. Each passenger was given a coupon for a free ride.
