Rembrandt van Rijn is as famous for his oils as he is for his prints, and a collection of 70 etchings by the Dutch master, including a very rare copperplate, is now on show at the Rotunda in Central.

Old master entertains

HOLLAND'S modern-day Rembrandt, as he describes himself, is more commonly known as cartoonist and caricature artist Frans Mensink, and will entertain and sketch his subjects while they wait.

Flamboyantly dressed Frans, 40, who studied at the Grafik School and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, claims to be ''as crazy as the rest of us''.

Last chance to look at Rembrandt etchings

TODAY and tomorrow are the last chances to see a fabulous exhibition of etchings by Rembrandt Harmensz Van Rijn, the great Dutch master.

Rembrandt (1606-1669) is widely recognised as the finest practitioner of the etching medium, and some art historians have even suggested that his etchings surpass his paintings in quality.
