Rockwell earnings rise

Rockwell International recorded US$628 million in earnings for the 1997 financial year, up from $572 million the previous year. Sales revenue increased 7 per cent to $7.8 billion from $7.2 billion in last year.

Fortei triples earnings

Casual wear manufacturer Fortei Holdings has made a net profit of $21 million on turnover of $286 million in the year to December.

The net profit was more than three times the $6.9 million in 1995 and earnings per share increased to 5.3 cents from 1.7 cents.

BRUNSWICK Corp of the United States has reported significantly improved operating results for both the quarter and year to December 31.

For the quarter, sales increased 22 per cent to US$654.9 million from $535.6 million.

ANALYSTS are mainly bullish about the 20.2 per cent growth in attributable profit for construction, engineering and property company Hopewell Holdings.

Overall, the results were in line with expectations, in spite of a 20.2 per cent drop in turnover to $2.3 billion.
