The Green School in Bali is to host a 'global citizenship summit' in November for educators to help develop global citizens 'who have the knowledge, skills and values to help create a sustainable and more peaceful world'.

Not good enough. I didn't receive much environmental education when I was in secondary school and seldom learn about the issue at university. There are recycling bins in my hostel but it's hard to find one on the main campus.

Teenagers lack environmental savvy

A recent survey shows that nearly 60 per cent of teenagers thought their awareness of environmental issues was weak, and that only 25 per cent took part in environmental activities over the last year.

The survey was conducted in March by the Hong Kong Children and Youth Services, a non- governmental social service agency funded by the Social Welfare Department.

Greens criticise funding

GREEN groups have criticised two environment funds for having awarded less than 17 per cent of their combined $100 million purse.

The Environment and Conservation Fund and Woo Wheelock Green Fund were launched last August, and have awarded $16.9 million for 91 environmental and conservation projects.

Low interest in green offer

INTEREST remains sluggish in a joint government and private sector green scheme which has awarded less than one per cent of its available $100 million to improve the environment.

According to figures released yesterday, only $920,000 has been given to community and green groups who have applied to the Environmental Conservation Fund and the Woo Wheelock Green Fund.
