For better or worse, 3D is no longer just a fad. Blame James Cameron for giving us Avatar. And blame him for not using 3D as a gimmick to fill cinema seats. Instead he used the technology to present a more vivid depth to the fictional world of Pandora.

Jedi knights return in 3D

A recent trend involves blockbuster films being revived in 3D for cinematic rerelease. This week witnesses one of the most successful franchises ever follow suit.

Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace (2D) was originally released in 1999. It is part one of a six-part saga, yet it was actually movie four in the topsy-turvy franchise, which started in 1976.

All Star Superman
