The blast on Friday night blew out the walls of an apartment on the fifth floor, sending a slab of concrete flying on to the street below and smashing into a delivery van. Its driver and two of his crew were crushed to death.

Four miners, all with minor injuries, had been rescued by yesterday afternoon while 10 more were still trapped underground after Monday's explosion at the Babao Coal Mine in Baishan, cnr.cn, the news portal of China National Radio, reported.

Ma On Shan restaurant blast injures 20

About 20 people were injured – four seriously – in an explosion at a Chinese restaurant in Ma On Shan around noon on Wednesday.

The blast triggered a fire and created air currents that caused glass windows facing the street to shatter onto the road and pavement.

The explosion occurred in a second-floor restaurant at Chevalier Garden’s commercial centre shortly after 12pm.

Three killed in blast at Kenyan capital mosque

Injured men are treated at the Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi. Such attacks in Kenya are often blamed on Islamist militants al-Shabab of neighboring Somalia.

Three people were killed and eight wounded in a blast outside a mosque in the Kenyan capital, the Kenyan Red Cross and police said Friday.

There were “three fatalities” as well as several wounded, some critical, a Red Cross official said after the “explosion near a mosque in Eastleigh”, a largely ethnic Somali district of Nairobi.

Survivors of a huge explosion at a rural hotpot restaurant that killed 14 people told yesterday how diners leapt two storeys to the ground to escape the blast.

The powerful blast blew out car windows and bent the iron gate of a shop across the street when it ripped through the Happy Sheep Hot Pot Restaurant in rural Shouyang county, Shanxi province, shortly before 8pm on Friday.

A suicide bomber blew himself up in Pakistan’s northwestern city of Peshawar on Wednesday, killing at least six people including a senior police officer, officials said.

The blast ripped through a congested part of the city, which lies close to Pakistan’s lawless tribal areas and is frequently hit by bombings, leaving blood and body parts in the street.
