TVB to screen Charity Shield football match live

TVB announced yesterday it had won the rights to screen live the English FA Charity Shield football match on Sunday between Manchester United and Liverpool, which kicks off at 9pm local time.

TVB will show the game with Chinese and English commentary. TVB has already won the rights to show highlights of the English Premier League next season.

I refer to the letter headlined, 'No Charity Shield' (South China Morning Post, August 17).

Cable TV did not bring the Charity Shield match to our viewers this season as we were not able to secure the right to broadcast the match in Hong Kong from the new distributor of the programme.

Charity bash

The official HK Chelsea Supporters Club will start the season at Hong Kong Football Club on Sunday night for the Charity Shield showdown.
