Kitchee moved a step closer to a "hat-trick" with a 2-0 win over Southern in the end-of-season play-offs at Mong Kok Stadium yesterday.

Having clinched the FA Cup and reached the quarter-finals of the AFC Cup, they are now closing in on their third and final mission of the season - winning a place in the 2014 AFC Cup.

Robin van Persie struck a late equaliser at West Ham United for the second time this season as champions-elect Manchester United scraped a 2-2 draw in the Premier League on Wednesday.

Just as he had in the 2-2 FA Cup draw at Upton Park in January, van Persie found the net in front of the Sir Trevor Brooking Stand to rescue United from being penalised for a sluggish start.

Former BBC director general Greg Dyke is set to become the new chairman of the Football Association, the English game’s governing body announced on Thursday.

The 65-year-old is in line to succeed David Bernstein when the current chairman steps down in July after the FA refused to alter a rule requiring the holder of the post to quit at the age of 70.
