How much longer can Fairview Park row be a 'private matter'?

As a resident of Fairview Park, I'd like to ask exactly when civil disobedience and criminal trespass become issues for police intervention.

Fairview residents await nod on barrier

Residents in Fairview Park, on a private road through the Yuen Long housing estate, hope to end soon the saga concerning their road, which has been severely damaged by heavy truck traffic and needs repair.

The road has been used as a short cut between the border and New Territories container depots, and in February last year a 12-year-old boy was killed by a truck.

Fairview roadblock 'needs approval'

A plan by the developer of Fairview Park to install a barrier to block trucks using a road within the Yuen Long housing estate seems to have become entangled in red tape.

Transport authorities, while acknowledging the road is private, asked the company first to consult district councils and the transport trade, and to seek approval from various government departments.

Residents evacuated after arson threat

Residents at some flats in Fairview Park, Yuen Long, were evacuated yesterday after a man threatened to attack a flat owner with a bottle of suspected flammable liquid following a dispute over money.

In the incident, which began at about 9am, a man surnamed Li, 53, demanded that the flat-owner surnamed Chan repay his debts.

Cars valued at $2m stolen

Cars worth $2 million were stolen from a Yuen Long motor company. The 37-year-old owner of the company, based in Fairview Park Boulevard, discovered eight Japanese cars missing and five others damaged shortly after 9am. The thieves are suspected to have got in through the back door of the premises where a broken locking chain was discovered and a screwdriver found.
