A family affair

AT 21, Tara Ferry with his full lips, fine cheekbones and sweep of dark unruly hair has the moody, sensuous, if slightly rebellious looks beloved of the Romantic poets. It is a cool, wistful image that Mario Testino captured beautifully in Burberry's spring campaign when he photographed Ferry with Tali Lennox (Annie Lennox's daughter) on a chilly winter's day on England's Brighton Beach.

Tax axed on couples jointly registering homes

The central government has backed away from a controversial tax imposed on married couples who want to add a spouse's name to a property, amid a rising public outcry.

Make yourself at home

Leung Yuk-yin had enrolled her son in kindergarten in the early 1990s when she saw a television commercial calling for people to sign on as foster families. The recruitment drive rolled out at just the right time. Her boy was settling in nicely in the nursery, so the housewife from Tuen Mun suddenly found herself with time to spare.

Mixed and matched

Walk into Sav and Peter Winslow's elegant southside living room, and the first thing that strikes you is the art. On one wall hangs a canvas covered in bold Aboriginal-style loops in earthy ochres and reds. On the other, propped against an easel, is a striking portrait of the strong, proud face of a Rajasthani woman. The paintings are a graphic reminder of couple's bicultural heritage.
