Messi hits 300th Barcelona goal in comeback win over Granada

Barcelona assistant manager Jordi Roura hailed 300-goal Lionel Messi after the Argentine’s double helped his side come from a goal down to beat Granada 2-1 on Saturday.

Messi’s first goal was also his 300th in a Barcelona jersey and Roura was particularly relieved for his efficiency in front of goal on a night when some of his teammates had passed up a number of clear chances.

Lionel Messi, grimacing in pain, was taken off the field on a stretcher with a bone bruise to his left knee as Barcelona was held to a 0-0 tie by Benfica in a Champions League match on Wednesday night.

Supersub Xavi sets up late Barcelona win

Substitute Xavi Hernandez scored a late goal to set Barcelona on their way to a 2-0 win over Granada which maintained their perfect start and sent them 11 points clear of bitter rivals Real Madrid.

The Catalan side have now picked up a maximum 15 points from their opening five games.
