Feist

Our slice of indie heaven

Anna Calvi. Austra. Yuck. Twin Shadow. Girls. It still seems unreal that acts such as these could be coming to Asia for a music festival. For fans used to attending shows only at AsiaWorld-Arena, these names will be unfamiliar.

Metals Feist (CD)

If you were one of the millions who bought Feist's third album The Reminder solely on the strength of 'the iPod song', 1,2,3,4, her latest album may come as a bit of a surprise, if not disappointment. That's not to say Metals is bad; 35-year-old Canadian Leslie Feist just panders less to mainstreamers, and does exactly what she wants.

The Reminder by Leslie Feist

Canadian singer-songwriter Leslie Feist's third album The Reminder sounds like a recording of live music at a college summer camp.

That doesn't mean the album is poorly produced or the recording is unpolished. It's the natural, laid-back vibe of the tracks. For example, there are birds chirping on The Park, which was recorded in a 200-year-old manor house in Paris.
